Osun Lawmaker, Bamidele Salam Trains 400 Graduates, Entrepreneurs On Business, Leadership

No fewer than 400 young graduates from Ede North/Ede South/Egbedore/Ejigbo Federal Constituency have been trained on entrepreneurship and business development.

The three-day entrepreneurship training which started on Thursday, March 7, 2024 was facilitated by the Honourable member representing Ede North/Ede South/Egbedore/Ejigbo Federal Constituency at the lower chamber of the National Assembly, Hon Bamidele Salam.

CityMirrorNews reports that the themed of the 2024 BS-E4 Business and Leadership Bootcamp is “Accessing Local and Global Opportunities For Growth.”

Speaking at the opening of the training in Olorunsogo (Dada Estate), Egbedore Local Government Area of Osun State, the lawmaker said the aim of the programme was to empower youths with knowledge on good leadership and entrepreneurship skills and give them a means of livelihood.

The programme, according to him, was designed to teach youths on various entrepreneural skills such as Social Media Marketing; Businesses Communication Skills; Businesses Plan Writing; Accessing Business Financing; Export Management Opportunities among others.

Chairman, House Committee on Public Account further said as lawmakers, one of their constitutional roles to make laws and facilitate programmes that will have positive impact on the lives of constituents.

The lawmaker noted he facilitated human capital training for the youths of his constituency to expose them to different opportunities within the public and private sectors to grow their businesses.

He further said that the programme will provide opportunity to bridge the gap between various government agencies that have products and services that can leverage on participants.

He noted that all invited people are highly experienced and core professionals in various businesses who have the right information and right channels that would assist the beneficiaries in the business.

“The programme is meant to develop human capital to build up people in the manner that make them live purposeful lives.There are many things that are happening within the public and private sectors that we need our young people to know about and able to key into them.

“We also use this opportunity to bridge the gap between various government agencies that have products and services which our people in the Federal Constituency can leverage on, the Cooperate Affairs Commission, Bank of Industries, Bank of Agric and so many organizations that have a lot of products that they developed to help young entrepreneurs. Bring them together in a programme like this will offer them the opportunity to hear it as have first hand information from the organizations and also key into the opportunity available to start and to grow their various businesses.

“The work of the National Assembly is to make laws, we are the ones that make the laws that established all of the organizations, Nigerian External Promotion Council, Bank of Agriculture are all products of the law but it’s one thing to make those laws, established all those agencies by law is another thing for the people to key into what is available.

One of the resources persons, Tunde Olatunji, charged Nigerians to develop value chain of the agriculture so as to create more job opportunities.

Olatunji said, the country is blessed in terms of resources particularly the land and there was the need for Nigerians especially youths to key into it, urging them to embrace farming as penacea to unemployment menace.

At a cross section interview with some of the beneficiaries, Olawumi said: “Hon. Bamidele Salam kind of representation is rare. He keeps touching individuals’ lives since he became the lawmaker”.

While thanking the lawmaker for the kind gesture, Olawumi prayed that he Salamu attains more political uplifting.
