Ekiti Students Protest Police Brutality, Demands Justice
The Federation of Ekiti State Students’ Union (FESSU) is demanding justice for a slain corps member, Damilola Iyanda, who was allegedly shot dead by a trigger-happy policeman in the state last week.
To this effect, the students yesterday staged a peaceful protest at the state House of Assembly complex to press home their demand.
The slain corps member, Iyanda, a native of Ogotun Ekiti, Ekiti South-West Local Government Area of the state was allegedly shot by a police officer deployed to the scene of a crisis that broke out during an after-party at the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso, convocation ceremony held outside the school premises.
National President of the union, Benjamin Adekunle, who spoke on behalf of the students during the protest, demanded that an investigation be carried out promptly to make the perpetrator face the wrath of law.
