IDA: Indigenes Brainstorm On Development Of Ikirun Town

Indigenes of Ikirun both at home and in the diaspora have unanimously resolved to work together to build a new Ikirun, where the peace, progress and development of the ancient town would be the priority of all, irrespective of political leanings or religious affiliation.

This forms part of the resolutions made at the 2nd Stakeholders Forum, organized by the Ikirun Development Association, IDA, held at the Mini Campus of Minaret University, Ikirun; which was well attended by representatives of IDA, also known as National Ikirun Progressive Union, NIPU, from across country and joined online by others from overseas.

In his welcome address, the national President of Ikirun Development Association, IDA, Alhaji Mustafa Olawuyi, expressed concern at the slow pace of development of Ikirun, a town that was hitherto at the forefront, not only in Osun state, but among notable towns in Yorubaland and Nigeria as a whole and highlighted some notable achievements of IDA so far, especially the ongoing efforts in the area of security, update on MINARET University, which is expected to commence academic activities very soon at the mini campus as well as the Water Treatment Plant sited in Ikirun by a Japanese NGO, among others.

He appreciated those who have contributed and are still contributing towards the self-help projects, including Alhaji Jimoh Rabiu of JRB Company, which has embarked on construction of Roads, Installation of Street Lights and fixing of Electrical Transformers across the nooks and crannies of Ikirun; Prince Wale Olaoye of Halogen Group, who has donated a well equiped Hilux Security Van, Motorcycles and a number of Communication gadgets as well as the Asiwaju of Ikirunland, Retired DIG Adewale Lawal, among other well meaning indigenes of the ancient town.

In their goodwill messages, The Eesa of Ikirunland, High Chief Kareem Adetoyese; The chairman Ikirun Council of Elders, Prof Yakubu Fabiyi; member of Osun State House of Assembly Representing Ifelodun Constituency, Hon. Tajudeen Adeyemi; Chairman, Ifelodun North LCDA, Hon. Taofeek Oyekanmi; Dr. Lateef Owolabi; Mr. Bisi Adeyemo, Prince Tajudeen Adesegun, Alhaji Isa Abiona; Alhaji Qazim Afolabi, Architect Lekan Usman and Alhaji Kazeem Abubakar, Dr. Ganiyu Adebisi, Magistrate Lateef Ajala and the chairman, organizing committee, Mr Rasheed Omoloye, all reiterated their readiness to collectively move Ikirun to the next level of development.

The next Ikirun Stakeholders Forum holds in June, next year.#
