Gov Adeleke Promises Support for Infrastructural Devt In Rural Areas

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has reiterated his unflinching support and commitment for infrastructural development in rural areas of the state through Osun Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (RAAMP).

Adeleke, gave the promise when he paid a visit to RAAMP, Old Government Press Building, Old Ikirun Road, Aderin, Osogbo. The governor, who was represented by the Supervisor on Infrastructural Development, Dr. Bashir Tokunbo Salami, said that the administration would focus on infrastructure development in the state and all necessary requisites would be put in place to achieve it.

He said: “I appreciate the roles that the project is playing in the development of rural areas on one hand and that of the development partners on the other hand. This administration will do everything possible within its power to achieve the best for the state so that the people would enjoy the dividends of democracy.”

Earlier, the Project Co-ordinator, Popoola Rasaq Okediya, while briefing the governor on the activities of the project since its transition to RAAMP, said that the excellent performance of the project under RAMP-2 qualified the state to participate in RAAMP.

He said that the project, among other things, would upgrade 160 kilometres rural roads, spot improvement would be done on 400 kilometres, backlog maintenance and rehabilitation on 450 kilometres rural roads as well as routine maintenance.

In addition to the previous project, he said another component – Agricultural Marketing – would focus on the construction of Agro-Logistic Centres in strategic locations using the multi-dimensional indicators as laid down by the Donor Partners.

He appreciated the support and cooperation enjoyed from the state government for providing a conducive and enabling environment for the project to operate.He equally emphasised the commitment and the patriotism exhibited by the project staff in carrying out their duties diligently, effectively and efficiently with transparency, accountability and probity.

In his words: “I feel elated to express my heartfelt appreciation for the support being enjoyed by the project since the inception of the administration. The project, among other things, would upgrade 160km of rural roads, carry out Spot improvement on 400km, backlog maintenance/rehabilitation on 450km, routine maintenance is not left out. The Project will construct international standard Agro Logistic Centres where all facilities and amenities would be provided to take care of the value added chain.”
