Ramadan: Osun NUT Chairman Greets Muslim Ummah

As this year month of Ramadan begin, the Chairman, Nigeria Union of Teachers, NUT, Osun State Wing, Comrade Fatade Muritala Olatoke has described the period as one with abundant mercy of Allah, acceptance of prayers and forgiveness, calling on the faithful to use the opportunity to pray for the nation and the state.

Comrade Olatoke made this known in a Sallah congratulatory message to the state governor, Senator Jackson Nurudeen Ademola Adeleke, the Chief of Staff, Alhaji Kazeem Akinleye, the Secretary to the state Government (SSG) Hon Teslim Igbalaiye as well as all Muslims teachers and leaders of the union in the state.

The Osun NUT boss in the message said, the month provided a unique opportunity for Muslims to strengthen their faith in Allah and spread kindness in the land while urging every faithful Muslims to use the period to pray for Governor Adeleke and his team and the entire state at large.

Comrade Olatoke who promise not to let teachers down, said: “Let’s be reminded that the essence of fasting in the month of Ramadan, as Allah noted in Qur’an 2 vs 183, is for us to attain taqwa (piety).

We should, therefore, endeavour to make the most of this month by strengthening our commitment to the service of our creator, Allah and humanity”.

The Chairman, who quoted Qur’an 2 v 267, which says “O ye who believe, give of the good things which ye have,” said this act would help the underprivileged in the society to reduce the hunger and poverty confronting them.

“Am using this medium to congratulate our amiable governor, Senator Adeleke and his team and all my members who are Muslims and our leaders for witnessing this year Ramadan period and as we are starting, Almighty Allah will give us energy, strength and all other things needed throughout the period.

” We the NUT Osun State Wing, expressed our gratitude to the state Governor, Senator Adeleke for the timely intervention in the payment of Teachers’ salaries as and when due while we are appealing to Mr Governor not to take the issue that has to do with teachers promotion and other benefits that will enhance our productivity with levity hand.

” I also assure you of my readiness to move our able union forward in all ramifications through my efforts on training and retraining of teachers while my tenure would enhance unity and cohesion among members.

“Osun NUT will not relent in promoting and protecting the overall interest of all teachers in the state for the betterment of their noble profession while am admonishing teachers to make discipline their watchword and be committed to service delivery”, Comrade Olatoke said.

The Osun NUT Chairman, however wished Islamic faithful a successful fasting period, while also praying to God to grant them the strength needed to sustain them throughout the Ramadan.
