Four FGC Schoolgirls Regain Freedom After 2 Years
Two years after unknown gunmen abducted schoolgirls from Federal Government College (FGC), Birnin Yauri in Kebbi state, four students out of the remaining 11 girls in their custody have been released.
Bilha Musa, Faiza Ahmed, Rahma Abdullahi, and Hafsa Murtala were released Friday evening by Dogo Gide, a bandit leader, Daily Trust reports.
The spokesperson for the parents of the abducted girls, Salim Kaoje, who confirmed the release of the four girls on Saturday morning said that “It took six days of negotiations in the forest before four of the girls were released to us.
“We have seven more still in captivity and two of the parents are still in the forest trying to secure their release.”
Kaoje further said they had paid an undisclosed amount of money to secure the release of the four girls after they sold their properties and a fundraising that saw many Nigerians assist the parents financially.
