Adamawa 2023: INEC Issues Certificate To Finitiri, Deputy Today
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) will issue certificate of return to Adamawa State governor-elect Umaru Ahmad Finitiri, and his deputy, by 3 PM today.
Finitiri, candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), was declared winner of the March 18 governorship poll on Tuesday, by the returning officer, Prof. Mohammed Mele, at the completion of the collation of the April 15 supplementary election.
The Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) Hudu Yunusa Ari, had controversially declare Aishatu Ahmad, popularly known as Binani, of the All Progressives Congress (APC), winner on Sunday, while the collation was still going on.
INEC headquarters however, reversed the declaration and has since suspended the REC from office.
The commission in a statement posted on its Twitter handle on Wednesday, said the certificate presentation will be done at its headquarters, at Abuja.
“Similarly, members of the National Assembly-elect (Senators and House of Representatives) will receive their certificates from 11am today.
“Members of state Houses of Assembly-elect should contact our state offices for their certificates,” the statement further directed.
