NLC Issues 7-day Ultimatum To FG, Threatens Nationwide Strike Over Naira, Fuel Scarcity

The Nigerian Labour Congress leadership has threatened a nationwide strike if the Federal Government does not resolve the country’s cash crisis within seven days.

Comrade Joe Ajaero, President of the Nigeria Labour Congress, issued the ultimatum on Monday in Abuja, during the opening session of the labour union’s Central Working Committee (CWC).

Ajaero, who expressed concern about the difficult situation imposed on Nigerians as a result of the Federal Government’s cash swap policy, warned that if nothing is done to improve the situation by the end of the seven-day period, workers would be directed to stay away from work.

The NLC president also criticized the country’s current fuel shortage, lamenting that workers and Nigerians are being pushed to the brink of starvation.

On this issue of fuel scarcity and cash crunch, Congress wish to inform the Federal Government that we will no longer keep quiet.

NLC is giving the CBN and the FG seven working days, if they fail to do the needful at the expiration of the seven days, all workers in Nigeria should stay at home, Ajaero stated before the meeting went into a closed-door session.
