Osun NUJ Condoles FRCN-Gold FM, Ilesa On Burnt Facilities
Osun State Council of the Nigeria Union Journalists has condoled Staff and Management of Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria,Gold FM, Ilesa on the inferno that ravaged the radio station over the weekend.
In a release jointly issued by Chairman and Secretary of the union, Comrades Wasiu Ajadosu and Adeyemi Aboderin after an on the spot assessment of facilities ravaged by the inferno called on relevant government authorities,most especially the Osun State Government and the management of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria to come over and ensure that the radio station return to the airwave.
The fire incident,which consumed the stations transmitter and other facilities running into millions was caused by a public power surge.
The Zonal Director FRCN, Ibadan Zonal Office and the General Manager,Gold FM, Ilesa, Mr.Dominic Mokikan and Mr.Dokun Lade,who received the Osun NUJ team appreciates timely visit of the Osun NUJ Exco,which they noted will bring succour to the staff of the station who are downcast by the fire incident.
They used the visit to appealed to Son’s and Daughter’s of Ijesaland and notable individuals in the state,as well as the federal and Osun state governments to assist the radio station back on air.
Chairman, Nigeria Union of Journalists, Osun State Council, Comrade Wasiu Ajadosu,who spoke, promised to liase with relevant authority to play their part in bringing back the station alive again.
Recall that the latest incident will be the third time the radio station would be gutted by fire.
