NACETEM Signs MoU With NITT To Advance Frontiers Of Knowledge
National Centre for Technology Management (NACETEM) on Monday a signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Nigerian Institute of Transport Technology (NITT) to advance frontiers of knowledge with a view to accomplishing development that will stand the test of time.
The MoU signing ceremony which took place in Abuja , on Monday was witnessed by the leadership of NACETEM and NITT.
Speaking during the event, the overseeing Director-General/Chief Executive Officer of NACETEM, Akintayo Omimakinde said since no any organization can operate in isolation there was the need for active interaction among institutions so as to be able to achieve meaningful development that will rub off on the society in terms of concrete impacts.

Omimakinde said: “In an age when knowledge changes at the speed of light, no organisation can afford to operate within its cocoon or work in isolation. The time we are in calls for active interaction and engagement between and/or among institutions to achieve any meaningful development that will rub off on the society in terms of concrete impacts. For this reason, NACETEM has always been opened to collaborating with institutions locally and globally to advance frontiers of knowledge with a view to accomplishing development that will stand the test of time.
“Today’s signing of MOU ceremony is another step to underscore the significance of science, technology and innovation (STI) to all sectors of the economy. STI is a driver of sustainable development in all areas of life. It is therefore apposite to collaborate with other institutions operating within the STI space so as to cross-fertilise ideas and accelerate development in the society.
“Collaborating with NITT is an obviously easy decision to make because of the significance of the transport sector to Nigeria’s economy and the critical roles NITT plays within the sector. If NACETEM couples knowledge to development, then it needs an institution such as NITT that is into transport technology to make huge impacts. After all, collaborative efforts help to make quantum leap!
The fulcrum of the collaboration between NITT and NACETEM according to him revolves around: “Fostering of cooperation between the Institute and NACETEM in the area of technology transfer and adaptation in Transport and Logistics services.
“Data gathering and dissemination for operators, stakeholders and policy maker in the transport industry, joint research and development activities in the transport (and logistics) industry for improved capacity and products/services delivery.
The implication of the above is that Agencies can leverage on each other’s strengths to save government resources in terms of capital flight by taking advantage of what is available in the country. Inter-Agency collaboration thus becomes a handy tool to make more impacts at minimal costs.
Earlier, in his speech, Chairman, NACETEM Governing Board, Hon. (Sir) Haastrup Adewale Olatunji described the move as commendable saying it shows that government of the day is one and the same, working towards achieving collective aspirations.
“As the Chairman, Governing Board of NACETEM, I want to assure NITT that this collaboration has the full backing of the Board of NACETEM and we will do everything humanly possible to make it a huge success.
“Let me add that no organisation can survive alone. Organisations, the world over, work hand in hand to share ideas with a view to helping one another by leveraging on their respective strengths. The common strength to both institutions is the know-how to deploy science, technology and innovation to galvanise development. I therefore encourage the two institutions to use this for the benefits of Nigeria and humanity at large.
“I am certain that the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari will be pleased with both institutions looking inwards to use the available resources in the country to drive development. This approach will not only save the nation huge resources, but also prevent capital flights in terms of foreign exchange!
“On behalf of NACETEM Governing Board, I congratulate the two institutions on this bold move to work together.
Thank you so much and God bless Nigeria”.
