Osun Amotekun Commander Assures Of More Security As South African University Awards Him Doctorate
Rtd Brig-Gen. Bashir Adewinmbi, Commander, Osun State Security Network Agency (Amotekun) has reiterated his commitment to improved community development and providing adequate security in the state.
In a statement by his Personal Assistance, Isaac Oluwasegun on Monday, Adewinmbi gave the reassurance while receiving an Honourary Doctorate Award in Leadership Administration from the Anointed University Worldwide, Johannesburg, South Africa on Saturday.
The award presentation and ceremony, however, took place at the Afe Babalola Hall of the University of Lagos, with the award presented by Prof. George Aladeoba, Anointed University Satellite Campus President in Nigeria.
The Amotekun Commander said he was delighted when the notice letter of the award of recognition was first sent to him and that the award would spur him to do more in the area of community development and security.
“I am committed to empowering young people in the community in order to foster more security network within Osun State, the South West and Nigeria as a whole.
“Security is the business of everyone, and I believe when people, especially young people are gainfully engaged, crime and criminality will reduce in our society.” he said
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Rtd. Brig-Gen. Adewinmbi was appointed the State Commander of Amotekun Corps in Osun in 2021, after the law establishing the State Security Network Agency was passed to law by the state House of Assembly.
