OSPOLY Students Laud Gov Adeleke Over New Fee Suspension

Students of the Osun State Polytechnic, Iree , have lauded the state governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, over the suspension of a new fee implementation at the institution.

New Telegraph reported that a memo signed by the Permanent Secretary, Osun State Ministry of Education, Adelani Aderinola, a copy of which was obtained by newsmen in Osogbo, announced the fee suspension.

The memo, addressed to the acting Rector of the polytechnic, dated December 15, also indicated that the new fee regime was to take effect from the commencement of the 2023 academic session.

The students who was very excited by this development claimed that the tuition fee for fresh students was (earlier) increased from N67,850 to N112,850 for students offering science-related courses while those offering management-related courses were asked to pay N97,300 from the initial N57,300.

According the students in a statement on Tuesday jointly signed by the SUG President, Azeez Tajudeen Adebayo, General Secretary, Oluyeye Kayode Alade and PRO, Daramola Pelumi Stephen said the reversal of the tuition fees proved the fact that the state is being blessed with a listening Governor who prioritizes the interest of Nigerian students.

“The Generality of Students of Osun State Polytechnic, Iree through the Students’ Union Government is seizing this opportunity to show our profound gratitude coupled with joy on the reversal of Ospoly Tuition fees, that proved we have a listening Governor who is up and doing, ready to listen to student’s plight.

“It is pertinent to thank your administration and wonderful people of your cabinet, you all are best thing that has ever happened to Osun State Education and this is forever register in our hearts.

‘In conclusion, , this is a pragmatic approach and we thank you for such step, we are looking forward to seeing more of wonders,our wonderful Governor.”
