Osun APC Is Too Strong For You To Break, Famodun Tells Aregbesola
The Osun State Chairman All Progressives Congress (APC), Prince Adegboyega Famodun, has declared that no amount of political intrigues by the former Governor and now Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola can stop the second term ambition of Governor Adegboyega Oyetola.
While accusing Aregbesola of anti-party activities for declaring his full support to The Osun Progressives (TOP), another faction of the party loyal to him, Famodun said the minister is just grandstanding in past glory.
In the Osun State APC State Chairman’s words:. “Osun APC is too strong for Aregbesola to break.
It would be recalled that Aregbesola during the commissioning of the Digital Nigeria Centre in Ilesa, Osun State, declared that he is with TOP soul and body.
Aregbesola added that Alhaji Rasaq Salinsile is the State Chairman of his own APC in the state and that he is fully with the group. Salinsile emerged as the state chairman of APC from members loyal to the Minister at a parallel congress held in the state.
But in a swift reaction to the open declaration of Aregbesola that he is with TOP, Prince Adegboyega Famodun, the chairman loyal to Oyetola’s camp said the outburst of Aregbesola has reduced his status as a former Governor and as a serving minister of a party he claimed to belong.
While accusing Aregbesola of being an arrogant, selfish, self-centred, reckless, wicked and inconsiderate politician who want the whole world to be his possession, Famodun maintained that “Osun APC is too strong for Aregbesola to break”.
According to him, “sequel to the self-confession of the Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, of being part and parcel of a pressure group, The Osun Progressives (TOP) under the Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress(APC) at an event in Ilesa, Osun State, I want to say categorically that Aregbesola’s conduct in that regard is far below the expectation of the right-thinking members of the society.
Famodun in a statement issued and personally signed said, “it was unfortunate that Aregbesola who was the immediate-past governor of the state could champion subversive activities against the political party that has transformed his life from that of obscurity to limelight through prestigious offices as a Commissioner in Lagos State, two terms governor of Osun State and a serving minister of the federal republic of Nigeria.
Famodun who described activities and activities of The TOP as rebellious noted that TOP has constituted itself into opposition within the Osun APC.
The intra-APC opposition group, called TOP, which meets every Thursday in the Campaign Office of the interior Minister in Osogbo has become a venue where a barrage of insults are heaped on the person of Governor Gboyega Oyetola, the state leadership of the APC and the state government by the leadership of the said TOP.
This disgruntled set of the APC members are peopled by members of the cabinet of Aregbesola during his two terms of the governor of the state who are now protesting of their not being appointed by Governor Oyetola for the third term.”
Famodun told Aregbesola point-blank to perish the thought and notion of being the Alpha and Omega of Osun State progressive politics, reminding him that he is only grandstanding in the glory of the past.
“It is not an overstatement to categorise Aregbesola as someone who prefers to rule in hell than to serve in paradise.
“Aregbesola should be told that there are no amount of intrigues by him that is capable of bungling the second term ambition of Governor Oyetola as it has divine guidance and pathfinder which makes him(the governor) unstoppable by any mortal,” Famodun cautioned.
