A support group, comprising of youths from Ife and other neighboring communities have expressed readiness to purchase the House of Representatives nomination form for an All Progressives Congress (APC) aspirant, Hon. Rotimi Makinde.
The youths under the umbrella of ROTIMI MAKINDE SUPPORT GROUP voluntarily gathered in Ife on Saturday, 30th of April 2022 to raise money for the purchase of Makinde’s nomination form and to also ensure that he subsequently gets the party’s ticket as standard bearer to run for the Ife Federal Constituency election in 2023.

This development has positively given boost to Mayegun of Ifewara’s ambition to return to the hallowed chamber and resume the business of law making at the National level.
The group sees Makinde as the only outstanding man with great and enviable records and someone who has the interest of the people at heart judging from his antecedents.
The amount gathered at the Saturday sitting by the youths was to the tune of N1,725,000 naira (One Million Seven Hundred and twenty Five thousand naira).
The Secretary of the Group, Mr Oni Kolawole from Ikija Ward 1, said the money raised might be a far cry to the nomination fee, but stressed that it’s part of the group’s little way of showing Makinde that the great people of Ife Federal Constituency are solidly behind him.
Kolawole said, “We as a group are committed to pick the All Progressives Congress National Assembly nomination form for our principal, Mayegun Rotimi Makinde, to participate in the House of Representatives primaries of the party, to be held sometime next month.
Part of our plans include mobilisation of electorate through door-to-door campaigns and visitations to some notable APC leaders across Units, Wards and Local Governments.”
He continued, “Makinde has an intimidating credentials and has contributed to the development of our constituency in the 7th Assembly and his quality representation was quite impactful socio-economically. We believe he has all that it takes to add value to Ife Federal Constituency in the forthcoming 10th Assembly. We truly believe in his capacity and we cannot afford to miss this golden opportunity.”
Others in attendance were Olagoke Oladedeji (Osi Ward), Hon Adefisayo Adedeji Ilode Ward 1 A, Aramide Elizabeth (Ilode Ward 2), Abewela Rachael (iremo 3) Muritala Saka (Iremo Ward 4), Oderinola Emmanuel (Asipa/ Akinlalu ward) to mention a few.
