Pandemonium In Osun Market As Yoruba, Hausa Traders Clash
There was tension in Owode-Ede, Ede North Local Council Development Area (LCDA) of Osun State on Tuesday as Hausa pepper sellers and Yoruba youths clashed.
CityMirrorNews reports that clash occurred at the popular Owode weekly Market on Tuesday.
Eyewitness told CityMirrorNews that crisis began to occur when an Hausa pepper sellers who was said to have allegedly blocked the entrance of a house located at the market place was instructed to vacate the place.
It was gathered that the Hausa pepper sellers in their usual way allegedly blocked the frontage of the building barring the occupants of the house to gain access into the house.
It was further gathered the refusal of the Hausa man provoked the house owner who in return forcefully removed the wares to create access road to his house.
The action of the house owner did not go down well with the Hausa trader who resulted into violent approach and allegedly broke the landlord’s car mirror.
Speaking with CityMirrorNews, a resident of the area alleged that it had become the usual attitude of the Hausa traders to display their wares on an unauthorized place.
She said ” Some displayed their wares in front of somebody’s stalls, while others had just spread them out on the pavement”
As at the time of filling this report, the Hausa traders have been taken to the palace of Olu of Owode as those that sustained injury have been taken to hospital.
