Federal Lawmaker, Ayeni Empowers Constituents In Osun (Photos)

No fewer than 100 persons have benefited from another empowerment programme facilitated by the lawmaker representing Ijesa South Federal Constituency at the National Assembly, Honourable Lawrence Babatunde Ayeni.

The entrepreneurship programme was organised in Osu, the headquarters of Atakunsa West Local Government Area of Osun State, on Friday, as grants for over 50 individuals to start up their small-scale businesses.


The empowerment came a few months after hundreds of constituents were empowered with cash each by the lawmaker.

CityMirrorNews reports that the Lawmaker had through his Foundation, LB Ayeni Foundation brought hundreds of youths in Lagos and Osun State out of poverty since its establishment in the year 2000.

The empowerment programme attracted prominent indigenes of the local government, APC leaders, Traditional rulers , market men and women and stakeholders across the state.

The beneficiaries, went home with Motorcycles, dryers, sowing machines, and cash.

Ayeni said that the empowerment programme was done out his desire to give back to the society from where he had also benefited .

He said: “It has always been my desire to give something positive and remarkable back to the society from which I have also benefited, and that’s why I replicated these Skills Acquisition programme in Osun State long before I was elected into the public office two years ago so that my people especially the teeming youths who cannot afford formal training in the different vocations can benefit in order to be self reliant.

He, however gave Glory to God for he had still be able to put smiles in the faces of his people, saying he was set to do the same for another outstanding set at no distance time.

He admonished the beneficiaries to see the scheme as a means to boost their incomes .

The lawmaker explained that he had chosen the empowerment after due consultation with his constituents, adding that he was sure that it would have direct impact on them.

He implored them to use the resources judiciously for the purpose it was meant for, assuring that apart from the ongoing ones, other physical projects would be executed soon.

Ayeni, urged party members to remain loyal and committed to the party just as he enjoined them to continue to support Governor Gboyega Oyetola in his bid to transform the state.

“I want to urge the party members and the entire people of the Atakunsa West Local Government to continue to support our amiable Governor in his bid to take the state to the greater heights.
I also thank our leaders and party faithful for giving us the opportunity to serve in this capacity.


Speaking, Chairman, Osun State Chapter of NURTW, Comrade Lekan Salami commended the lawmaker for his people-oriented programmes and quality representation, urging him not to relent in doing more.

One of the beneficiaries, Abiodun Omowumi , expressed delight at what she described as an “outstanding and impactful project.”

Omowumi who went home with dryer and other hairdressing equipment, said it would help her become successful person in life.

Another beneficiary, Famakinwa Oluwaseun, who got sewing machine, said that there couldn’t have been a better way to alleviate people’s suffering at the grassroots than such empowerment programme.

Oluwaseun said no any Politician has done such in the area, praying God almighty to continue to bless the lawmaker in all ramifications.
