Pan Yoruba Summit: It’s Unpatriotic For Yinka Odumakin To Say They Were Not Properly Briefed, Says Adeboye Adebayo
….as Alaafin Oyo, Ooni of Ife, Olubadan, Oba of Lagos, Oluwo of Iwo, Chief Rasheed Ladoja, Raji Rasaki, Mr. Ayo Fayose, General Alani Akinrinade, Baba Fasanmi led Afenifere, others ready to attend
The Secretary of the Pan Yoruba Summit that comes up on Thursday 21st January, 2021 in Ibadan, Comrade Adeboye Adebayo has condemned the National Publicity Secretary of a factional Yoruba Sociopolitical group, Afenifere, Mr. Yinka Odumakin for saying that the group will not attend the summit because they were not properly briefed.
In a statement released in Ibadan Tuesday’s evening, Adebayo described Odumakin as “unpatriotic and being economical with the truth thereby misleading the general public.”
According to Adebayo, Invitation letters and cards were sent to Chief Ayo Onabanjo in his Lekki residence, to Chief Reuben Fasoranti in Akure, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo in his Presidential library, Abeokuta among other Yoruba leaders and all were delivered.
“Our National Coordinator and one of the Conveners of the Pan Yoruba Summit, Hon. Oladosu Oladipo received a call this evening talking about Mr. Yinka Odumakin complaining about not being properly briefed about the Pan Yoruba Summit.
Nothing can be farther from the truth than that assertion.
“Firstly, the Pan Yoruba Summit is being put together for all Yoruba sons and daughters to come together and deliberate on the position of Yoruba in the country, Nigeria at the moment and how to move forward politically and economically, hence the theme of the summit “Yoruba Nation Yesterday, Today & Tomorrow” and without cards or letters, if you are a Yoruba man or woman and you are patriotic, you are entitled to attend the summit, no matter where you get its notice” Adebayo said.
“Apart from that, Invitation letters and cards were sent to all Yoruba leaders across the length and breadth of the region including, Chief Ayo Onabanjo, Chief Reuben Fasoranti, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo among others. So the statement credited to Yinka Odumakin is false, malicious, unpatriotic, wrong and misleading” he said
Comrade Adeboye Adebayo then noted that the real reason why Yinka Odumakin said they will not attend is best known to them.
“I think the reason why they will not attend the summit is best known to them because the only thing the summit is going to deliberate on is how Yoruba will be maximally relevant politically in Nigeria through Yoruba Presidency in 2023 and I think according to newspaper’s they are for Igbo Presidency, hence, we are not on the same page. As we speak, our Babas Alaafin Oyo, Ooni of Ife, Olubadan, Oba of Lagos, Oluwo of Iwo, Chief Rasheed Ladoja, Mr. Ayo Fayose, General Alani Akinrinade, All South West Governors, former and serving Ministers, former and serving National Assembly members all of Yoruba extractions among other Yoruba Patriots and Leaders have indicated their interest and readiness to attend the summit” the summit secretary concluded in his statement
