YWG Commiserates With Gani Fawehinmi’s Family Over Muhammed’s Demise

A social-cultural organisation, Yoruba Welfare Group has commiserated with the family of late human rights lawyer and activist, Gani Fawehinmi over the death of their son Muhammed Fawehinmi.

Muhammed, 52, passed away at 9.00 am on August 11, 2021, after a brief illness in a Lagos Hospital.

In a statement by YWG Media Adviser, Yinka Salaam, YWG commiserated with the family of late human rights lawyer over the death of their son.

YWG condoled with the Ganiat, mother of the deceased, and the entire family, urging them to find comfort in God, ‘who gives and takes life and determines the term of everyone on earth”.

It also condoled Muhammed’s friends, associates and members of the Civil Society Organisations in Nigeria, enjoining them to take the death with faith, hope and equanimity.
It says, “Mohammed Fawehinmi, the eldest son and Chairman, Board of Nigerian Weekly Law Reports, did not only leave a fulfilled life even as he departed this world at age 52, he also sustained the golden legacy of his indefagitable father whose activism and contribution to legal profession and himan rights in Nigeria remains unparalleled.

“The family is a proudly Yoruba family that remains a proud legacy for every Yoruba son and daughter and which is being being showcased acrossed the world by all Nigerians.”

Describing the dead as a detribalised Nigeria, the statement urged all activists and groups in Nigeria to emulate Mohammed Fawehinmi’s brand of activism that was guided by knowledge and devoid of mischief, tribalism, militancy and selfishness.

The socio-cultural cultural organisation prayed Almighty Allah to give the family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss. It also prayed the Almighty to forgive the sins of Muhammed, overlook his shortcomings and admit him to Jannatu Firdaus.
