Lawyers Demand Release Of ENDSARS Detainee After She Gives Birth In Prison
Lawyers are demanding for immediate release of an ENDSARS detainee and her newborn baby after she gave birth in prison.
Kemisola Ogunniyi, among protesters arrested during EndSARS demonstrations in Ondo State, was delivered of a baby boy in prison custody at Surulere facility in Ondo city on Wednesday.
Her mother, Felicia Ogunniyi, has appealed to the state government and human rights advocates to help her facilitate the release of her daughter and the newborn baby boy from the correctional facility earnestly.
Kemisola was arrested alongside others for allegedly participating in the razing of All Progressives Congress(APC) Secretariat in Akure.
Kemisola and three other persons, Ayodele Bukunmi, Ojo Samuel and Ani Obinna, were arrested, paraded and arraigned by the Police before an Akure High Court for conspiracy to commit arson, riotous assembly, stealing and malicious damage and the substantive offences of arson, riotous assembly, stealing and malicious damage.
The accused all pleaded not guilty and were subsequently remanded in correctional centres in Akure and Ondo city.
