Be Careful About The Way You Report Terrorist Related Events, Faronbi Charges Journalists

A veteran journalist and former Nigerian Ambassador to Philippines, Dr.Yemi Faronbi has charged the Nigerian journalists to be careful about the way they report terror related events in the country.
Dr.Faronbi said this in Osogbo on Thursday at an event organized to mark this year’s press week of the Nigeria Union of journalists, Local Government Information Chapel in Osun state.
Ambassador Faronbi while delivering his speech as the chairman of the occasion explained that no terrorist can succeed without the media.
He said,”the terrorists need the media to succeed because they want the media to report their activities in order to create fear in the minds of the people”.
The media guru then urged the media practitioners in the country not to over-report terrorism so as not to give undue celebrity to the perpetrators.
Speaking at the occasion, chairman of Nigerian Union of Journalists Osun state chapter,com. Wasiu Ajadosu commended the local government information chapel of NUJ in the state for the series of activities organized to mark this year’s press week.He said” the chapel has laid good examples for others to follow”.
At the occasion, awards of excellent were given to some notable Nigerians for their meritorious service to their local communities and humanity at large.
