Covid-19: PDP Stalwart, Ogunbiyi Distributes Hand Sanitizers To Journalists In Osun
A group within the leading opposition party in Osun, Iderade Foundation Monday distributed hands sanitizers to media Practitioners in the state.
The gusture according to the Chief Executive Officer of the group, Dr Akin Ogunbiyi was part of the precautionary measures to curb the spread of the Deadly Coronavirus Pandemic in the state.
CityMirrorNews reports that since the outbreak of the disease, only Akin Ogunbiyi among the politicians in the state identified with the journalists by giving them free hand sanitizers.
The former PDP gubernatorial aspirant, while distributing the hand sanitizers and leaflets described journalists as part of frontliners who also deserve special care during this time of Coronavirus pandemic.
Represented by Hon Funsho Babarinde, Ogunbiyi said that the roles of media practitioners during the period of outbreak like this cannot be overemphasized, saying there are many hazards attached to the profession and the need to care for them at all times.
Describing Coronavirus as a deadly disease ravaging the whole world, Ogunbiyi said the viruse can be transmitted from person to another.
He urged residents of the state to always observe social distancing order, just as he enjoined them to maintain high level of personal hygiene.
“Our elderly parents are more susceptible, please help them to keep well and transmit this information to them immediately to reduce physical contact with people, no more hugging while greeting.
“If you suspect that you have come in contact with a sick person self-isolate yourself for few days, so as not to infect your family.
“Avoid large gatherings that are more than 50 people, as you do not know who is a carrier of this disease from facial appearance” Babarinde said.
Reacting, Chairman, Osun Online Media Practitioners Association (OOMPA), Comrade Jare Tiamiyu appreciated the kind gesture, saying Ogunbiyi has done tremendously well, just as he urged other Politicians and political office holders to emulate the good gusture.
