Yinka Odewale Emerges MPU Chairman, Promises Inclusive Government
Osogbo Chapter of the Modakeke Progressive Union(MPU) at the weekend elected Mr. Yinka Odewale as its new chairman.
Odewale who emerged as the new headship of the union during the union’s monthly meeting held at the residence of Dr. Gboye Isawumi in Osogbo, Osun state capital, a union member, expressed appreciation to all members of the union who believe in his ability and capability to steer the ship of the union for another three -year tenure.
The newly elected chairman under the electoral officer of Pastor Claudius Alabi however pledged to work hand in hand with other elected executive members of the union to make the association more virile and outstanding.
“I also want to xpress my heart of gratitude to the out- going executive members of the union who had worked effortlessly towards uplifting the cohesion of their members.”
He however pledged that his exco would hit the ground running with a view to building on the impressive achievements of the past executive while no stone would be left unturned to improve upon their success records.
Odewale, while charging all members to also associate and contribute their quotas to the development of the union, said he believed,with their efforts, remarkable achievements would be greatly recorded saying, a tree cannot make a forest.
“As for me, I will not waiver to consult the elders within the union in order to drink from their fountain of knowledge and I will ever be ready for service that would positively rob on the overall development of Modakeke”.
He further promised not to let them down but instead be upright and dedicated to make the union a pacesetting and more effective in touching peoples lives positively.
Other elected executive members of the union were the vice Chairman, Elder Akin Ogundiran, Secretary – Pastor Alawode Oyenpemi, Assistant Secretary – Elder Akin Osuntayo, Financial Secretary – Elder Rufus B. Aderibigbe, Treasurer – Alhaji Awwal Muneerdeen Adewumi,
and the union public relations officer – Mr. Kola Olabisi.
Other positions occupied were Social Secretary – Elder Odeleye Moses .A., Chief Whip – Engineer Ejiade Banjo,Auditor 1 – Alhaji Awoyomi Abass, Auditor 2 – Elder Fadare Idowu, Ex-officio 1 – Evangelist Tunde Olodude while Ex-officio member is Aafa Olabayiwa Olawumi.
In his valedictory address, the immediate-past chairman of the union, Evangelist(Chief) Tunde Olodude, thanked the members for their co-operation during his tenure which started on September 25, 2016.
He remarked that “This tenure occupied a zero tenure plus a -three-year tenure in which we have tried to build upon the foundation we met on ground. We have changed what we were able to change and abide with those things we cannot change.”
“On a sad note but with glory to God, we recorded the death of some of our members during our tenure. They are: Olorode, Fadiran T.O., Oyeleye Moses, Popoola J.D., Faleti E.O. and Surveyor Odetunde O.O. May their souls rest in perfect peace”, the erstwhile chairman said.
While seeking for forgiveness from whoever he might have offended during the course of his leadership of the union,, he stressed”my stepping out will not be a barrier to my full commitment to our union”.
