Akeredolu To Visit RUGIPO For Commissioning Of Projects

The Management of the Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo, Ondo state, on Wednesday said some projects sponsored as part of its unprecedented infrastructure and industrialization by the state government at the institution campus are ready for commissioning by Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu.

The Management through its Public Relations Officer, Mr. Samuel Ojo said its became necessary to open the eyes of the public to these landmark and unique contributions and achievements of the institution through the Governing Council Chairman, Banji Alabi with the aims to take the state-owned polytechnic to a world class institution.

According to him, some of the projects that will be commissioned include; Rectory, Registry, Bursary, Radio Station 103.5FM and RUGIPO Market which will be named as Oba Gbadegesin Ajibade Ogunoye (III), the Olowo of Owo.

Ojo, in a statement made available to journalists in Akure said, “I will humbly appeal to all members of the Polytechnic community to focus on the objectives for which the school was established and to desist from any act that is not consistent with the aims and objectives for which the school was established.

“It is credible and historic that the infrastructural and human development in RUGIPO under the Governor of Ondo State, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu transients all his predecessors in office.

“His mandate and charge to the governing council on the need to retool, re-engineer and reposition the institution and the driven ability of the council with a dynamic management has put the institution name in the guiness book of records.

“Rufus Giwa Polytechnic was establish in 1979 with the aims and objectives; namely, training and developing techniques in Applied Science, Engineering, Environmental Studies, Accounting, Commerce and Home Economics.

“To stimulate spirit of excellence in teaching, research, scholarship and creative activities among staff and students.

“To encourage academic freedom, creative and innovate thoughts, ethical standards, integrity, accountability and social justice.

“Now, the institution have achieved Internet penetration on campus, establishment of Huawei ICT academy, restoration of damaged ICT Centre, renovation of water bottling/bread factory and construction of perimeter fence, reduction of outstanding salaries from 9 months to 4 months, contractors are back on site to complete E-Test Centre, FSSCS Building, FAT Building, Rectory Building, Registry Building, Bursary Building, Staff audit, Ban on sale of handouts, Clampdown on money for mark and issuance of fake certificate syndicate group.

“Privatization of staff school, appointment of principal officers, Teetfund overseas/local training for large numbers of our employees, Teetfund scholarship to large numbers of our employees to pursue PhD/MsC in local & foreign universities, installation of transmission equipment for Rugipo Radio, collaboration with one of the best universities in Nigeria to commence degree programmes from October/November 2020, the school has been named Centre of Excellence, power plant and Tech hub have been approved for the school.”
