As COVID-19 limits everybody’s ability to travel and meet in large groups, the G-STIC conference is organised online. Participants can join live from anywhere across the world to discuss new opportunities to contribute to a sustainable world and connect with people dedicated to the SDGs.

The DG/CEO of NACETEM, Engr Professor Okechukwu Ukwuoma, while speaking about the conference on a radio interview in Ibadan said “Digital economies are becoming increasingly important in all sectors of the society and this is not just happening because of COVID-19. Digital technologies are simply indispensable in developing solutions to change our consumption and production patterns, and building the cornerstone of a sustainable society”.

He also said that “digital technologies and data analytics are enablers of the circular economy. To this end, circular economy is aimed at using science, technology and innovation to eliminate waste and continual sustainable use of resources. To create circular economy therefore, there is need for collaborations among countries, agencies and sectors on different skills sets from different disciplines to tackling SDGs problems. This is essentially one of the reasons for G-STIC conference, which is an annual event.”

He encouraged Nigerians to avail themselves of the opportunity to be a part of the conference by visiting www.nacetem.gov.ng to register for free.
