Coronavirus: Jegede Urges Nigerians To Stay Safe, Stand Guard And Secure Their Frontline
By Niyi Olutunde, Akure
Ondo State governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2016 elections, Mr Eyitayo Jegede, on Friday asked the people of the state and Nigerians as a whole to stay safe and secure themselves in the wake of the COVID-19 virus outbreak.
Jegede gave the disclosure in a press release he issued and signed personally and made available to journalists in Akure, the Ondo state capital.
According to him, the widespread nature of the virus across the globe has made it expedient for Nigerians to tap into the self-security measures taken by countries all over the world to keep safe from the ravaging virus.
“Compatriots, the extraordinary nature of the time occasioned by the global spread of the deadly COVID-19 virus requires that we take extraordinary measures to protect our country, out State and families from its devastating effects,” he said.
The Senior Advocate of Nigeria also urged the people to ensure that they do everything possible to ensure that they do not become victims of the pandemic.
“With the rapid advance of the virus, our first duty is to take responsibility for our individual health by ensuring that we do not contract the virus, only after this can we safely be considered useful in the effort to fight back the rampage of this wasting plague,” said Jegede.
He urged the people to rally round one another at this trying time so that they could defeat this plague.
“Now we must do all within our means to support every effort to keep the deadly COVID-19 virus outside our borders and curtail its spread wherever identified,” he said.
He urged the people of Ondo State and Nigerians as a collective to prioritise their health and that of their families, praying that “sickness will not take hold of our bodies, our country and out State.”
