As the governorship election gathers momentum in Ondo State, the Zenith Labour Party(ZLP), has received more members of All Progressives Congress (APC) and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who dumped the parties to join the ZLP in Igbara-Oke in Ifedore Local Government Area of the state.

In their thousands members of both APC and PDP from different wards in the local government converged on Igbara-Oke to join the ZLP train.

The defectors decided to join the ZLP because of the Deputy Governor, Mr. Agboola Ajayi who is the governorship candidate of the party, and his running-mate Engr. Gboye Adegbenro.

Leading the PDP defectors to ZLP, Engr. Onaolapo Jones said they have confidence in the deputy governor to deliver the state from the harrowing situation it has been plunged to by the Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu-led administration.

He said the programmes of the ZLP are people-oriented and strong enough to take the people of the state out the woods.

Engr. Onaolapo noted that the national leader of ZLP, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko was a pathfinder who tuned the fortune of the state round while in office before the advent of the APC-led government in the state that allegedly destroyed all the grand achievements of the Mimiko-led government.

Chief Bisi Obele and Dele Odewumi, a pharmacist, who led the APC defectors, described the APC government in the state as government of deceit.

Odewumi said Governor Akeredolu started approaching them after emerging as the candidate of the party because he wanted to use them to secure the people’s mandate the second time.

Chief Obele alleged that Governor Akeredolu had abandoned them immediately after he got to office in 2016 only for him to begin to approach them when another election is approaching.

The defectors were jointly received into the Party by the Zonal Chairman of the ZLP, Mr. AkinloluĀ  Babatunde and the local government Chairman of the party Mr. Williams Bosede.

They both assured the new entrants of a level playing field, urging them to work for the success of the party in the October 10, 2020 gubernatorial election in the state.

The running-mate of the party’s standard bearer, Engr. Gboye Adegbenro welcomed the defectors, assuring them that they would not disappoint the members and supporters of the party as well as the people of the state if they’re elected.

He reassured the people of the state that the education, health and other sectors of the state would experience meteoric development when they assume office.
