By Ayobami Agboola, Osogbo
The Special Adviser to Osun State Governor on Education, Hon Jamiu Olawumi, has said there is nothing called “State of Osun”
The SA Education said only what they have is Osun state, adding that going by the pronouncement of the court which declared that there was nothing called “Osun state ” all the letters from the ministry of Education carries Osun State.
Featuring on an online TV program, ‘Insight Moment’, the SA on Education said he was not sure the state had appealed the court ruling.
Olawumi told the presenter that, “I am saying Osun State, you are saying state of Osun, I’m in government you’re not in government.
“There is no development, what I know and the correspondences that have read through that occurred in the last nine years in Osun, any letter we are sending outside the state carries Osun State up till now.
“I don’t know when we have written World Bank from Osun State the last ten years that we wrote “State of Osun”.
“And I know that international best practices compels me to say the truth. My governor, when he gets to Abuja they called him Governor Osun State , they don’t called him Governor of the state of Osun.
“And all these things, we have about two court judgements now that said that there is nothing like “State of Osun” which I think we have not appealed .
When asked whether letter from his ministry carries State of Osun or not, the Special Adviser replied that ” the Ministry of Education, Osogbo, Osun State”
“I know that the ministry of Education , Osogbo, Osun State is media friendly and I can beat my chest that fortune of Education in the state has changed tremendously under Gboyega Oyetola as Governor.
CityMirrorNew recalls that Justice Yinka Afolabi of the state High Court sitting in Ilesa had on December 2017 declared “State of Osun” as illegal and unconstitutional.
The case was filed against former Governor Rauf Aregbesola over the renaming of Osun State as the State of Osun by Barr Kanmi Ajibola.
Despite the fact that the matter is still at the Appeal Court, officials of the state are still using “State of Osun” in their official engagements and communications.
