The New Nigeria People’s Party,NNPP, has reaffirmed Hon Mrs Agol Ebun Tracy as its candidate in the 2020 governorship election in Edo State.

The party has also distanced itself from the acclaimed 35 political parties that purportedly collapsed their structures to support the incumbent governor and the candidate of the main opposition, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Godwin Obaseki, stressing that it would never drop its candidate for any other party.

In a press release signed by the New Nigeria People’s Party, NNPP, Rev Emmanuel Olorunmagba, the party said that it is confident that its candidate would win the election.

The party said:
It’s so pathetic that in a desperate bid to attract more attention, some supporters of governor Godwin Obaseki have descended so low as to spread unbelievable humourous propaganda that 35 political parties have collapsed their structures to support Obaseki, whereas presently, there are only 18 political parties in Nigeria. This makes it amusing and exposes how desperate some people can be to the extent of not verifying the believability of their propaganda before spreading it.

“Therefore, the NNPP wishes to set the record straight on the position of the party. The gubernatorial candidate for the NNPP remains Hon Mrs Agol Ebun Tracy and we are actively promoting her, being fully confident that she will emerge as the next governor of Edo State and break record as the first female governor in Nigeria. Hence, there is no way a party that has and promoting her own candidate can go ahead to endorse another candidate (of another political party).”

NNPP advised the proponent of the falsehood not to in any form include the name of its great party in their unbelievable propaganda for any reason.
