Aggrieved Customers Vandalize GTBank Property In Osogbo Over Alleged Extortion
There was a pandemonium at one of the branches of a new generation bank, Guaranty Trust Bank, Osogbo when some aggrieved customers reportedly engaged the staffs of the bank in a free for all over alleged extortion.
CityMirrorNews gathered that the crisis which resulted into a physical fight ensued between the security Officers stationed at the bank premises and some customers who came to transact with the bank.
The Bank is located along Powerline, opposite Osogbo Township Stadium Osogbo.
It was gathered that it took the intervention of police officers who whisked away the accused bank officers before normalcy was restored.
The angry customers majority whom are youths according to the information vandalised glasses in front of the bank’s wall.
According to an eyewitness, the trouble started when customers complained of extortion by the security officers, alleging that the security men were demanding between N500 to N1000 from customers before allowing to enter into the banking hall.
They alleged the security officer whom his identity could not be ascertained of collecting bribe before allowing customer to gain access into the banking hall
Confirming the incident to newsmen in Osogbo, the Osun State Police Public Relations Officers, Yemisi Opalola said, “two suspects have been arrested and further investigation is ongoing on the matter”.
