By Ayobami Agboola, Osogbo
As Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP, crisis in Osun took another dimension, the party’s Unity Group led by Hon Gbemi Olufiade yesterday contended that the Embattled Chairman, Hon Olasoji Adagunodo did not embezzle 150 million naira campaign fund as alleged some people in the party.
Speaking at a press Conference yesterday, Olufiade noted that there was no time money was released from the National Headquarters or Osun State Chapter of the party for campaign during the last gubernatorial election in which Senator Ademola Adeleke was the party candidate.
The group therefore called on the elder brother of Ademola Adeleke, Dr Deji Adeleke and National Headquarters of the party to clarify the issue if any fund was released to them during campaign, saying that these allegations are baseless and a ploy to give the state Chairman a bad name.
It would be recalled that Adagunodo was suspended for Alleged antiparty, malfeasance and maladministration.
Speaking further on the crisis , Olufiade warned and advised the acting Chairman of the party , Elder Sunday Atidade, and his working Committee members to be neutral noting they are already acting as part of the problem by taking sides bad acting as a Factional party of Ede PDP.
He also enjoined them to look at how the party will move forward and improve upon their performance of September 22, 2018, saying that it would be funny for both National Working Committee and Executive members of the party to think that they can be exenorated of whatever allegations leveled against Adagunodo.
He therefore, urged party members to rally round Adagunodo and should not allow PDP to die and loose coming election in 2022 and beyond.
He also noted that if all these annormalies are not corrected quickly through reconciliation it means they have dug the grave of PDP in Osun.
Echoing a similar views, Osun PDP Liberation Group said nobody gave money to any party officials in Nigeria, in the South West any fund and most especially during the gubernatorial elections.
Addressing a press conference , Mr Moses Adeleye recalled how funds meant for gubernatorial elections was personally handled and disbursed by the party candidate, Senator Ademola Adeleke and his brother, Dr Deji Adeleke.
He therefore urged leadership of the party to look into the matter and ensure that Adagunodo is restored back to his position so as for the party to excel in the coming Elections saying failure to do the needful they would be forced embark on Mass action in Osun state after the Covid-19 to let the people know that PDP is their party.
Speaking of the dangerous effects which the crisis might have had on the party if not being handled with care , The Concerned PDP Members Group said inability to resolve internal crisis has remained the greater hindrances to taking power back from the incumbent government for the past 12 years , saying the current crisis is not in the interest of the party.
Speaking, Solomon Adekanbi advised the national leadership of the party to investigate petitions written against any officer within the party , saying such petition must be investigated in the light of the local situations of the party.
