By Niyi Olutunde, Akure
A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo state, Elder Kunle Eko-Davies, has congratulated Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu on his victory in last Saturday’s governorship poll.
Recall that INEC had on Sunday declared Governor Akeredolu winner of the October 10, 2020 governorship election having polled a total vote of 292,830 to defeat his closest rival, Eyitayo Jegede, who polled 195,791 votes.
Eko-Davies, in a statement made available to journalists in Akure on Thursday, hailed the stakeholders, especially the Independent National Electoral Commissioner (INEC), politicians, parties and security personnel for playing according to the rules of the game.
According to him, this made the process more credible with equity and fairness to all, which was responsible for the calmness and peace across the length and breadth of Ondo State.
He said, “Akeredolu won the keenly contested re-election bid on the ticket of APC over his closet challenger, Eyitayo Jegede of PDP who came second, while Agboola Ajayi of ZLP was in a distant third.
“Congratulations Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu and Deputy Governor-Elect Lucky Aiyedatiwa on your well-deserved victory at the Ondo State governorship polls” .
“Your visionary and friendly leadership especially in the last three and half years have proven to be the magic behind the ongoing developmental strides of your government in the Sunshine State” .
Eko-Davies also appreciated the efforts of Engr. Ade Adetimehin led executives and Senator Tayo Alasoadura for the victory recorded on Saturday’s gubernatorial poll.
He, however, urged Governor Akeredolu to run all-inclusive and participatory governance with a premium placed on the well-being of everyone, for more progress and development of the state.
