Amidst COVID-19 Pandemic Scare, Gunmen Killed 8 Persons in Plateau
No fewer eight people were killed at Hwrra, a village near Maiyanga of Kimakpa Ward, Kwall District in Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State on Tuesday.
CityMirrorNews gathered that the attack was launched around 7:30pm on Tuesday, April 14, 2020, after prior information received about its occurrence in the early hours of the day.
The villagers alledged that security formations were informed and were told to place a call immediately when something erupted. Security men, however, arrived at the scene of the attack around 12 am.
Invesgigation by CityMirrorNews revealed that eight people were killed including a nine months old pregnant woman, 3 children and 4 men, while two women also sustained some degree of bullet injuries and are currently on admission.
Among the victims were Luka maingwa, 4years; Gya Yakubu, 12years; Sunday Biri, 52years; Izhi Nkama, 47years; and Hossiah Yakubu, 7years.
About 23 houses were also burned in the attack as hundreds of people were rendered homeless.
Among the first visitors to the scene of the attacks were the STF Commander, Commissioner of Police, Plateau State Command, and Brra-Nggwe Rigwe, Member representing Irigwe/Rukuba in the Plateau State House of Assembly.
Villagers are currently leaving the community in droves for fear of further attack.
