Covid-19: Oyetola’s Aide, Omowaiye Distributes Food Items To Over 4,000 Households In Ijesaland

Osun state Commissioner for Works and Transport, Engr Oluremi Omowaiye, on Monday commenced distribution of food items to over four thousand households in Ijesaland to cushion the effect of the stay-at-home directive over Coronavirus pandemic.

CityMirrorNews reports that the distribution of the food items started with Ilesa West Local government and Atakunmosa West Local Government areas of the state.

The train which transverse the length and breadth of Ilesa West LGA moved from one family compound to another, and from one street to the other, distributing the Ilerioluwa covid 19 relief package irrespective of tribe, religion, colour or political affiliation.

It was designed to cover all the communities across the Atakunmosa west, especially in Osun, Iwara and Ifewara

Speaking during the door-to-door food distribution, Engr Omowaiye told CityMirrorNews that the distributed items included beans, rice, wheat, semoflour, noodles as well as eggs.

Omowaiye who said he had earlier sensitised and distributed preventive materials such as hand sanitizers, liquid soaps , face masks mong the residents of the sleepy town said the gusture was to complement Governor Gboyega Oyetola’s efforts to contain the spread of the deadly Coronavirus pandemic in the state.

Tagged “Ilerioluwa Covid-19 Emergency Food Response and Easter Package” Omowaiye further explained that the philanthropic gesture was aimed at extending helping hands to the vulnerable and the needy at this trying time saying though, this is not the first time he would be reaching out to his people.

He acknowledged the financial support earned from his friends in putting up the initiative.

The Works and Transport Commissioner urged the people of the Ilesa and Osun as a whole to continue to adhere strictly and ensure full compliance with the government directives over COVID-19.

He praised them for their support and loyalty, saying he would not relent in acceding to their yearnings and aspirations.

“We achieved a lot with the health sensitisation and distribution of some preventive items across communities in Ilesa West and Atakunmosa West Local government areas. The response was overwhelming.

“This distribution of food items is expected to alleviate the suffering of the people as a result of the sit-at-home directives over the COVID-19 spread.

“The distribution is designed to touch most of the residents, irrespective of their party affiliations or religious beliefs.

“I am sure we may not be able to reach everyone, but we will try our best within our capacity,” Omowaiye said.

Omowaiye assured residents and citizens of all the communities visited that Governor Gboyega Oyetola is doing everything humanly and medically possible to curtail the spread of COVID-19, saying that the Governor deserves commendation at this crucial time of their socioeconomic life.

Elder Idowu Popoola and Mrs Omolara Abolarin, both beneficiaries in Ilesa praised Omowaiye for his generousity and foresight.

“We are grateful for this kind gesture from Engr Oluremi Omowaiye, this is very timely and beneficial,’’ the duo said.
