Selflessness, Contentment Remain Virtues Of Good Governance – Osun Deputy Governor
Osun State Deputy Governor, Mr Benedict Olugboyega Alabi has identified selflessness and contentment as integral virtues that bring about good governance and egalitarian society .
He maintained that contentment on the part of the leadership and followers would put social security at equilibrium, adding that economic condition of individuals determines pattern of orientation that guarantees social stability .
Alabi made this known on Monday while speaking with Correspondents on the potency of political-economy style adopted by Buhari-led administration, as he boasted that the All Progressives Congress, APC, has redefined tenets of governance beyond expectations of Nigerians .
He argued that the level of economic advancement and growth of infrastructure attained in the space of five years of APC leadership, despite nagging security challenges and limited resources suggests purposeful leadership .
The Deputy Governor averred that the dwindling value of Nigeria’s currency and abysmal economic situation in Nigeria could be traced to military incursion and bad management of commonwealth with impunity .
According to Alabi, the economy of Nigeria was adversely affected at the point when dignity of labour was considered as alternative forgone , saying, there was urgent need to strengthen the real sector of the economy the same way the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari is vigorously pursuing viable industrialisation.
” The wind of change, as being institutionalised by administration of Preslident Buhari is vigorously changing the hitherto National orientation of dangerous taste for imported goods at the peril of sustainable local production .
” The courageous move to close Nigerian land borders against economic conspiracy of certain capitalists to turn Nigeria into dumping ground of imported goods remains most laudable policy of Federal government in the post independence .
” As a former banker, I know such conscious economic decision would have long time positive and multiplier effect on our economy and bring about development and growth .
“As an emerging economy, we must place more premium on production and judiciously utilise our resources , both natural and human, to optimally attain balanced terms of trade and as well create employment for our teeming youths .
“It is the same pattern of viable economic development plan that we follow in the state of Osun. The governor, Mr Gboyega Oyetola, is relentlessly working without noise to create conducive environment for investment and speedy growth in all ramifications .
“It is incontrovertibly certain that our administration is extremely responsive and sensitive to needs and aspirations of our people , it is indeed a government of the people and for the people”, Alabi asserted .
