COVID-19: NAPPS Begins Massive Fumigation of Private Schools Ahead Resumption in Ondo

Following the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19 plans to reopen schools only for students in graduation classes, the National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools (NAPPS), Ondo State Chapter in conjunction with Favour Olorunjuwon Enterprises, has begun the fumigation of all private schools in the state.
NAPPS said the exercise was to curtail the spread of the coronavirus in all private schools ahead the academic activities.
The President of NAPPS in Ondo state, Chief Derick Ijidakinro, said the association was ever determined to ensure the safety of the pupils and students of private schools across the 18 local government areas of the state.
“Today what we are doing here is the flag off of fumigating all private schools in the state and we are doing this to let the government know that we are fully ready for the reopening of schools. So, to let parents know that the safety of their children is our concern” Ijidakinro said.
Also speaking at the event, the Director of Public Sanitation and Hygiene in the Ministry of Water Resources, Mrs Funmilola Akintade said the fumigation exercise was very important in order to combat and eliminate all forms of viruses in the land.
Akintade said, “it is important for all to fumigate our places in order to combat and eliminate all forms of viruses in our midst, it is our duty to do so. Our children, also need to be taught on how to protect themselves. Also, those handling the chemicals needs be very careful.”
Similarly, the Chief Executive Officer, Favour Olorunjuwon Enterprises, Jones Oladele, maintained that the fumigation became imperative so as to put a stop of any invasion of the pandemic disease in the state.
Oladele said, “as you all know that health is wealth, our efforts is to compliment what the government is doing in stamping out the pandemic. Our children needs to be protected and that’s why we are fumigating their schools before the resumption.”
He, therefore, appealed to residents in the state to abide by the preventive measures outlined by the relevant authorities.
The President of NAPPS in the South West, Barrister Oluwarotimi Abitogun said they have already put in place every preventive measures to ensure that the pupils are protected.
“We just want to appeal to Federal government to reopen our schools,” Abitogun said.
The flag-off ceremony had in attendance chairmen of the association in all the 18 local government areas of Ondo state.
