Use Your New Position To Complement Oyetola’s Effort In Improving Basic Education,Oyebamiji Charges Irewole LGEA Members

Members of the newly appointed Local Government Education Authority(LGEA) in Irewole local government have been charged to see their new roles as an opportunity to serve and contribute to the growth of the education sector in Osun.

Commissioner for Finance, Mr Bola Oyebamiji gave the charge on Wednesday while playing host to the Chairman, Secretary and members of the newly appointed LGEA executives for Irewole local government who paid him a courtesy visit in his office.

Oyebamiji urged the LGEA executives who were led on the courtesy visit by the Chairman, Irewole local government, Hon. Aderemi Abass to use their new appointment to assist the Governor in further revamping the education sector in the state so as to secure the future of the state.

The Finance Commissioner stated that their new responsibility of ensuring proper supervision and monitoring of education at the grassroots is very important to the overall development of education in the state at large.

While admonishing them not to let the Governor and their people down, the renowned banker stressed on the need for them to work together as one in bid to successfully build on the foundation which has been laid by Governor Adegboyega Oyetola.

According to him, “I want you to see your new position as a rare opportunity for you to serve your local government and the entire state. You should realize that there are many equally qualified people for the position you are holding today.

“It is an honourable position for you to contribute to the development of the education sector from the grassroots, this is an opportunity for you to impact the lives of the people, you should see yourselves as ambassadors.

“I am referring to you as ambassadors because you are going to join in sustaining the revamping of the education sector which our amiable Governor, Mr Adegboyega Oyetola has started, that is the major reason why he appointed you.

“You should not see your position as an opportunity to show affluence, you must let it sink into you that you are going to work. A lot rests on your shoulders right now, you must work to ensure quality education for our children, we are looking up to you to do that.

“Dust yourselves up and get to work, the Governor and the masses are expecting so much from, you can’t afford to let them down”. Oyebamiji stated.

Speaking earlier, Chairman, Irewole local government, Hon. Remi Abass who thanked the Commissioner for receiving them on such a short notice explained that Ikire and the entire Irewole local government had never had it so good in terms of development.

He commended Governor Adegboyega Oyetola for the timely decision to appoint the LGEA executives who will work to improve the education sector right from the grassroots, explaining that the move will definitely yield a
positive results for education in the state.

Members of the LEGA committee for Irewole local government who were on the courtesy call are: Chairman, Mr Yekini Adegoke, Secretary, Mr Opeyemi Tiamiyu, Community Relations Officer, Mr Idowu Badejoko. Other members are Mr Benjamin Ogundele and Mr Taiwo Akinloye.

It will be recalled that recently, Governor Adegboyega Oyetola had named the Chairmen, Secretaries, Members and CROs for the Local Government Education Authorities(LGEA) in all the Local government of the state in exercise of his authority as conferred on him by Section 8 of the State of Osun Basic Education Law 2017.
