Covid-19: NYSC, Kwara Govt Partner On Palliatives To Corps Members
By Steve Oni, Ilorin
The National Youth Service Corps in Kwara State has partnered the state government in the distribution of food items to corps members serving in the state.
The palliatives distributed to the youth corps members on Thursday in Ilorin, the state capital, include several bags of 5kg semovita, cartons of vegetable oil, packs of tomatoes paste, packs of sugar, golden penny instant noodles, and bags of ‘gari’ among other items.
The NYSC State Coordinator, Mrs Francisca Olaleye, said the gesture was a joint provision by NYSC Kwara and the State Government to cushion the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic on the youth corps members in the state as a result of the economic downturn.
The State Coordinator appreciated the Kwara State government for partnering the State NYSC to ensure that the idea came to fruition, noting that the Corps Members have been in the vanguard of the battle against the pandemic. She further assured them that their welfare remains a major priority of the NYSC Scheme nationally and across the country.
Mrs Olaleye therefore enjoined the Corps Members to reciprocate the gesture by being law abiding to the rules and regulations of the NYSC, while also admonishing them to advance their commitments towards making the state coronavirus free.
