Controversy Trails Health Status Of Emir Of President Buhari’s Hometown
Unconfirmed reports have it that, the Emir of Daura, Umar Faruq has been admitted into the intensive care unit of the Federal Medical Centre Katsina over COVID-19 complications but, his Special Adviser on Media and Protocol, Ibrahim Hamisu has denied the claims describing it as mere rumors.
Speaking in a telephone interview with Ait Tuesday night, Hamisu who holds the title of “Sarkin Gabas Daura” however confirmed that the emir is presently in Katsina but, declined to say exactly where he is at present.
He added that, the rumours making the round that the emir was in intensive care unit, is not true.
The media aide to the emir further confirmed that, though the palace is presently under lock, calls and text messages put through to the emir were not answered or returned.
He however promised to get back to Ait as soon as there are any developments on the issue as, he was on his way to Katsina town to see things for himself before making further comments.
Meanwhile, in another telephone interview with a close source in the Federal Medical Centre who pleaded anonymity, Ait gathered that the emir is at the ICU of the hospital.
According to him, no one is allowed anywhere close to the area due to the presence of security operatives who are keeping watch at the facility
