Keep Praying, Adhere to Preventive Measures Against COVID-19, Baptist Youths Urged
By Our Reporter
Youths of the Nigerian Baptist Convention, NBC, have been urged to keep praying against the novel disease, Coronavirus and adhere strictly to preventive and protective measures.
The President of the youths under the aegis of the Nigerian Baptist Convention Youth Conference, NBCYC, Pastor Onajite Enunuaye in a press release made available to journalists advised youths to follow regular updates on the pandemic in Nigeria and around the globe.
He urged Baptist youths and other Christian faithful to maintain the hygienic lifestyle and continue to pray against the disease stating that it is from the pit of hell.
He said that Christians approach should be to “pray against the disease but more importantly, be more closer to your creator”.
Onajite applauded the government on the measures taken so far to prevent the spread of the disease in the country. He, however, urged the government at all levels to increase the palliatives and ensure that people have access to them without unnecessary bottlenecks.
The statement read in part:
“The world is being rattled today by the novel coronavirus disease including our country, Nigeria.
“The death toll across the world has risen above 60,000 with over a million people tested positive. Nigeria has recorded over 200 cases with 4 deaths.
“While we commend the government at all levels on the effort to contain the disease, we urge them to ensure that more test and isolation centres are provided and upgraded as we pray to have a lesser number of new cases.
“We equally urge the government, corporate bodies, and philanthropists to provide palliatives for indigent Nigerians who have been forced to stay at home.”
He urged the youths to cooperate with the government in observing the stay at home order and ensure that they follow the guidelines being issued by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, and other relevant government bodies like the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 among others.
The NBCYC President urged Christians, especially youths, to use this stay at the home period to study the word of God more and be prayerful saying that all these are signs of the end time.
He prayed that the virus would not have dominion over the people of God in Jesus name.
