Akeredolu Scores Banji Alabi High, Inaugurates Capital Projects In Owo Poly

Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State has described the Chairman, Governing Council of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo, Banji Alabi Esq as a prudent personality, who through ingenuity turned around the fortune of the polytechnic.

The governor gave the commendation while inaugurating some capital projects sponsored by his administration in the polytechnic.

Expressing shocked at the level of success recorded by the Banji Alabi-led Governing Council vis-à-vis the amount of funds made available to the institution, the governor appreciated the management acumen of the chairman and other members of the Governing Council.

Among the capital projects inaugurated by Governor Akeredolu included a three storey Rectory, Registry, Bursary, RUGIPO 103.3 FM radio station and Kabiyesi Oba Gbadegesin Ajibade Ogunoye III Market complex.

In his address, the chairman of the Governing Council noted that they were motivated by governor’s mandate to retool, reconstruct and reposition the institution and make it a leading research institute committed to improving the human condition through advanced science and technology. 

Mr. Alabi explained that his team was able to perform wonders due to the unflinching support of the governor for the growth and progress of education in the state.

Soliciting for support for the institution from government and philanthropists, Mr. Banji Alabi said: “Your Excellency, like Oliver Twist, we shall continue to count on your unwavering support for the completion of all the remaining projects during your second  term in office by God’s Grace.

“I like to use this opportunity to invite other well-meaning Nigerians to partner with us on executing some of our remaining projects.”

He disclosed that the polytechnic was eager to establish earnestly Solar farm/ power plant, Technology Hub and Mechanized Farm.

According to him, the Tech hub would “educate and encourage new talents, and also enhance our ways of thinking; it will provide a space where high-tech business growth can be accelerated and in turn, bring prosperity to our community.”

Mr. Banji Alabi revealed that in 2018, NNPC/ NASENI donated some equipments to the institution CNC Lathe machine used for the turning of any automobile part especially cylindrical objects, Electrical Discharge Machine used for making complex shape by melting contours, universal milling machine can be use for milling, drilling,  boring, making vehicle engine blocks as well as bolts, gear making, such as bevel gear.

He explained that the set-up of the Technology Hub and the in-house equipments above would “effectively signal the birth of the commencement of our own Silicon Valley in Ondo state.”
