Father, Stepmother Arraigned For Allegedly Tying Up Son With Rope In Osun

A 36-year-old father, Olasile Oladejo and his wife, Rasheedat Oladejo have been arrested by Osun state police command for allegedly assaulting and tying up a minor.
Police had on May 28, this year, dragged the two defendants before Osun State Magistrates’ Court sitting in Osogbo on a three-count charge and they pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The case was adjourned till June 3 (today) for the presentation of fact.
However, when the matter was mentioned on Wednesday (today), Counsel to the two accused persons, Barrister Nwoke told the court that his clients wanted to change their plea, urging the court grant them for the purpose of fair hearing.
Presiding Magistrate, Dr Olusegun Ayilara, granted the prayer of the Defence Counsel and the defendants were re-arraigned.
Police Prosecutor, ASP Fagnoyingbo Abiodun told the court that the suspects assaulted one Oladejo by beating him with wire and tied him with rope to the extend he sustained injuries all over his body.
Abiodun further explained the suspects committed the offence on or before 23 day of May 2020 at Opposite Ebuoluwa area Osogbo in Osogbo
He said the offence committed contravene Section 516, 355 of the Criminal Code Cap 34 Vol. II Laws of Osun State Nigeria 2002 and Section 33 (1), (2) of the child right law 2007.
The defendants however changed their plea from guilty to not guilty
The defence counsel, Mr Nwoke applied for bail for his client in the most liberal term pledging that they have a reliable surety.
The Magistrate admitted the two defendants to bail in the sum of N100,000 and one surety each and adjourned that case till June 10,2020 for hearing.
