The Osun State Commissioner for Works and Transport, Engr. Remi Omowaiye has said he will freely distributes thousands of Facemasks and hand Sanitizers to the residents and citizens of Ilesa.
In a press release by his office, Omowaiye expressed deep concerns and reservations about the geometric increase in the positive cases of COVID-19 recorded from Ilesa in the last few days.
“The exponential increase on the NCDC data of Osun is traceable to Ilesa which is a strong indication of community spread , and this calls for urgent action by all stakeholders.
“I am therefore supporting my people to curb the spread of COVID-19 by distributing several thousands of Facemasks and hand sanitizers just as I did few months ago “, he said.
“I wat appeal to our people of ilesa to be COVID-19 sensitive, they should observe the well publicized guidelines and protocols as announced by the State Government of Osun.
“Residents are enjoined to always observe social distancing, use their Facemasks, wash their hands regularly, maintain hygienic environment, report any signs or symptoms of illness to the nearest public health facility.
“Our people should not join the bandwagon of uninformed persons to say Corona Virus doesn’t exist.”
To this end, the Ijesa born politician said, he will be leading an advocacy Campaign across the length and breadth of Ijesaland on the compulsory of Facemasks usage, he concluded.
