By Nafisat Arogundade
A 45-year-old man, Suraju Igbayilola, was on Monday, remanded in police custody by an Osogbo magistrate court for failure to produce accused person he stood surety for.
The prosecutor, Mr. Fagboyinbo Abiodun, told the court that the accused person committed the alleged offence on 11th day of August, 2018, when he stood surety for a suspect at Ataoja police station, Osogbo.
He further said that the accused person, Lukman Sodiq, was not found, hence the surety was brought to the court.
Fagboyinbo said the offence committed contravened Section 126 of the Criminal Code Cap 34, Vol II, Law of Osun State, 2003.
The accused person pleaded not guilty to the count-charge leveled against him by the police.
His Counsel, Mr. Tunde Adedokun, urged the court to grant his client bail in most liberal term promising that he would produce the accused that jumped bail.
The Magistrate, Mrs. O.A Oloyade, ordered that the accused be kept in police custody and directed the police to produce the accused that jumped bail.
The case was therefore adjourned till February 14, 2019, for hearing.
