It was a narrative of a well deserved honour as top dignitaries on Saturday witnessed the investiture of the Commissioner for finance, state of Osun, Mr Bola Oyebamiji as a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria(CIBN) for his contribution to the banking industry and the nation’s economy.

The event which was held at the Landmark event centre Lekki, Lagos State was attended by the Deputy Governor, state of Osun, Mr Benedict Alabi as well as the creme de là creme in Nigeria’s Banking Industry.

The investiture of the Osun Commissioner for Finance as a member of the CIBN couldn’t have come at a more appropriate time as the financial expert was only sworn in last Thursday to head the state Ministry of Finance by Governor Adegboyega Oyetola.

Delivering a speech shortly after decorating Mr Oyebamiji, President of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria, Dr Uche Olowu said it was an honour to have Mr Bola Oyebamiji as a fellow of CIBN going by his remarkable antecedents in the banking industry.

He said Mr Oyebamiji is a professional whom other bankers should try and emulate because he is someone who does his job professionally at all times with strict adherence to the ethics of the banking industry in Nigeria.

He said, “Mr Bola Oyebamiji has brought so much into the banking industry in Nigeria so much so that he can not be overlooked, we have followed him and have discovered that he is a banker who does his job with so much professionalism.

Speaking with newsmen after the event, Osun Deputy Governor, Mr Benedict Alabi who expressed delight at the investiture of Mr Oyebamiji as fellow of CIBN stated that he is not surprised by the feat because he has contributed so much to Nigeria’s banking industry.

He described Mr Oyebamiji as a goal getter and a thorough bred professional who is always thinking of ways to achieve results in his chosen career, noting that the banking industry in Nigeria is lucky to have such a brilliant mind as the Osun Commissioner for Finance being made a fellow of CIBN.

Mr Alabi described the Ikire born financial expert as a brilliant banker whom the state of Osun is lucky to have at the helms of affairs of the state Ministry of Finance at a time when it has become very necessary for the state to look inwards and boost its Internally Generated Revenue.

According to the Deputy Governor, “I am so delighted for my brother Mr Bola Oyebamiji on this significant feat, I have always known him as brilliant and hard working banker and in my opinion this is well deserved.

“The Nigerian banking industry is so lucky to have someone like him in the industry, he has brought so much to the table in the state of Osun Ministry of Finance where he was a Supervisor before being recently sworn as the Commissioner for Finance.

“I am happy to inform you that Mr Oyebamiji has brought in a lot of ideas as to how to further improve the revenue of the state and we are beginning to see the results, he is someone who will always choose patriotism over profit for the common goal”. He stated.

Reacting, the obviously elated Oyebamiji said he sees his investiture into CIBN as a call to more service in Nigeria’s financial sector, while calling on other professionals in the commercial sector to join hands with government to achieve the Nigerian dream.

He used the occasion to promise that he will do his best as the Commissioner for Finance in Osun to boost the revenue of the state as well as positively impact on Nigeria’s economy.

The event had in attendance top Management of Banks and other financial institutions, Regulatory agencies, Captains of Industry, Diplomats, Government Functionaries and Other Stakeholders.
