2019: Buhari Takes ‘Next Level’ Campaign To Osun, Canvasses Votes For All APC Candidates
By Ayobami Agboola, Osogbo
President Muhammad Buhari has canvassed for votes for himself and other All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates in the forthcoming February 16, 2019 Presidential and National Assembly elections.
He did this at the presidential rally organized by his party (APC) in Osogbo township stadium, Osogbo, Osun State capital on Saturday, January 26, 2019.
Addressing the mammoth crowd of his supporters, he reminded them of the ugly past when a section of the country was under the control of Boko Haram insurgents before his administration’s intervention after getting on board in 2015.
He said, “today, no single Local Government in Nigeria is under the control of Boko Haram and their dastard attacks.”
Thus, he charged Nigerians to vote for him and other APC candidates in order to rid the country totally of any form of insurgency as the war against insurgency has started to yield fruits.
He also promised to use his reelection to continue the fight against corruption and bribery to a logical conclusion by ensuring the proper investigation and prosecution of anybody that tampers with state funds or resources.
On the economy, President Buhari promised not to relent in the drive for diversification into agriculture and agro-allied investments as he charged citizenry to embrace this with the coming of the raining season which Nigeria is naturally blessed with.
In his contribution, the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo charged the people of Osun State to come out and vote for their upliftment to the next level of life by ensuring the reelection of Mr. President and himself with other APC candidates.
The National Leader of the party, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu charged Nigerians not to vote for PDP any longer as he alleged the party ruined the economy for good 16 years that it lasted in ruling Nigeria.
He berated PDP for not given recognition to Bashorun MKO Abiola, the undeclared winner of June 12, 1993 election who laid his life down that democracy may thrive in Nigeria.
He however praised President Buhari administration for taking the bold step of recognizing the man and his feat.
To him, Yoruba people should come out en mass and vote for Buhari/Osinbajo ticket as it is this administration that has thought it fit and put Yoruba people in rightful place of authority just as it has given employment to Yoruba sons and daughters.
Reminding the crowd that most Yoruba educated elites in those days were trained with money from agriculture and farming activities, he charged them to reelect Buhari for being courageous in diversifying the economy to an agro based that generates employment and wealth creation instead of sole dependent on oil as the only source of revenue to the nation.
The National Chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomole said that the large turn out to welcome Mr. President on the roadside and inside the stadium is sufficient to win elections, making mockery of PDP allegation that APC plans to rig. He urged the public to disregard the PDP and vote for all APC candidates.
Governor Gboyega Oyetola of Osun State called on the people of Osun to shun those he referred to as plunderers that has destroyed the resources of the nation in the past and vote for President Muhammad Buhari and the APC candidates in order to continue to enjoying the dividends of democracy in terms of good infrastructures
