Onnoghen Suspension: Senate to Reconvene on Tuesday
By Jide Afolabi, Jos
The Nigerian Senate will reconvene on Tuesday, January 29, 2019, over the suspension of the Chief Justice of Nigeria, CJN, Honourable Justice Walter Onnoghen.
Meanwhile, the leadership of the National Assembly will meet on Monday to discuss the matter. The National Assembly had adjourned last Thursday to February 19 after the Presidential and National Assembly elections.
President Muhammadu Buhari had on Friday suspended Onnoghen on the orders of the Code of Conduct Tribunal. The suspended CJN was alleged of non declaration of some assets including some domiciliary accounts.
The President has, however, sworn-in Honourable Justice Tanko Mohammed as Acting Chief Justice of Nigeria.
