Ikoyi Passport Office To Open On Saturday, Hours After Aregbesola’s Visit
The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has announced that its Ikoyi Passport Office would be open on Saturday, August 24, 2019, to attend to passport collection.
NIS made the announcement a few hours the Minister of Interior Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola who was on a familiarisation tour of all paramilitary and agencies under his ministry visited the headquarters of NIS.
In a tweet by the NIS, it announced, “This is to notify the public that Ikoyi Passport Office Lagos will open on Saturday 24th August 2019 from 9 am to 3 pm to attend to Passport collection cases only.”
It also announced that that applicant who had been enrolled “on or before 14th August 2019 and is yet to collect their Passports are advised to go for collection. They should ensure that they hold their collection slips.”
Ikoyi Passport office is regarded as one of the busiest NIS offices in Nigeria. In the past, fresh applicants and those who wanted to renew their passports had been frustrated due to hundreds of applicants that thronged the office every day.
Before now, there reports of people who travelled to neighbouring states like Oyo, Ogun, Osun, Ondo and Ekiti to obtain a passport.
With the new development, Ikoyi office of the Nigerian Immigration Service might just have become a better option.
At the time of this report, we could not reliably gather if the office would continue to be opened on Saturdays for operations.
Recalled that during his visit, the former Osun governor restated his commitment to ensuring the NIS evolves into a World Class Migration Management Agency.
