Tension Pervades Ogbomoso North LG In Oyo As Akala’s Son Removed As Council Boss
Workers in Ogbomoso North Local Government in Oyo state
are now operating under the fear of the unknown following the announcement of the removal of the Chairman of the local government,Hon Olamiju Alao Akala who decamped from APC last weekend and joined Action Democratic Party (ADP)
They are fearing that violence could erupt any moment except proper security is put in place.
Olamiju is the son of Otunba Adebayo Alao Akala, former Governor of Oyo state and who is now recontesting governorship election but under the platform of Action Democratic Party(ADP).
Olamiju contested the council Chairman under the platform of All Progressives Congress(APC) in, May last year and he won therefore governing the council since then.
Scores of Security operatives stormed the council from Tuesday evening to checkmate any breakdown of law and order.
Workers who arrived their offices on Wednesday were scared with the presence of both uniform and plain cloth but armed security men in the council.
Principal officers including lawmakers in the council have kept away from the council because of the implications of Olamiju Alao Akala who was removed on Tuesday
Olamiju Alao Akala protested that his removal was illegal null and void adding that his sack was unconstitutional and that he remains the Council Chairperson.
However,the APC Chairman in Ogbomoso,
North,Hon Bukola Badmus who confirmed the suspension and subsequent sack of Olamiju Alao Akala as the Council Chairman said that once he has decamped to another party he could no longer remain as the Council Chairman.
Badmus disclosed that four Councillors in the Council signed a letter removing the Chairman and had accordingly forwarded the letter to the State Commissioner for Local Government and who has, in turn endorsed it.
Meanwhile,Senator Olufemi Lanlehin ,the governorship candidate of African Democratic Congress (ADC) condemned the action of the State Government by describing it as illegal.
Lanlehin who spoke through Mr.Basiru Lawal,his campaign Director pointed out that the action was dictatorial and should be rescinded immediately or be challenged in court because the Chairman was an elected one and not an interim Chairman.
Latest report from the government said that Alhaji Abass Bello Bayewuwon has been inaugurated as the new council Chairman.
