Polls Shift: NIPR Urges INEC To Utilise PR Techniques In Managing Its Operational Challenges
Press Release
The Nigeria Institute of Public Relations, Osun State Chapter has urged INEC to utilise PR techniques in managing its operational challenges following the postponement of election scheduled for last Saturday by INEC.
NIPR in a statement signed by its Public Relations Executive, Kikelomo Owoeye, and made available to CityMirrorNews in Osogbo, on Sunday enjoined INEC to adopt PR techniques in managing its operational challenges.
According to NIPR, “INEC should strictly adhere to the rescheduled dates for the general elections and ensure that the logistics and operational challenges that it has claimed led to the postponement should be addressed in order to have a free, fair and credible election.
“It will be an understatement to say that Nigerians ever envisaged the postponement of the general election in view of the assurances which INEC gave on their readiness for the general elections.
“INEC is advised to take adequate measure to tackle all lapses that needed to be corrected before the rescheduled dates for the general elections. They should work hard on the critical challenges to break the jinx of postponement of elections which has been a regular occurrence in Nigeria since 2011
“It is imperative on INEC to work with the security agencies to provide adequate security for the ad-hoc staff and Corps members who will be on duty on the dates of the elections.
“To Nigerians who have been seriously affected by the postponement of the general elections should see it as a sacrifice to build a new future we all desire ,we need to make sure that we portray a good image of a great country ,Nigeria in the Comity of Nations.”
