Police To Train New Additional Special Officers In South West

In his bid to further enhance security in the South Western part of the country, the Inspector General of Police, Muhammed Adamu has set up a Special Training of additional police men to complement the efforts of those already on ground in the Zone.

This was disclosed in a Press statement by the Zonal Police Public Relations Officer,Superintendent Adekunle Ajisebutu.

IGP Adamu who was represented by DIG Operations,Abdul Majid in the company of Zonal AIG Zone 11,Mr.Adeleye Oyebade and other senior Police Officers on Thursday visited the PMF Training College, Ila- Orangun to assess the level of the ongoing training for the Special Forces.

The visit was to enable the IGP to assess the preparedness of the special outfit ahead of its deployment to the entire part of South-West and other zones to complement existing security apparatus in the areas.

The Special Forces which have been undergoing intensive, rigorous, tactical/combat operation training at the Training College is expected to help fight insurgency, kidnapping, banditry, and sundry heinous crimes in the country.

The DIG also visited the Osun State Governor, His Excellency, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola during which he assured him and the people of the South West zone of adequate security, while soliciting support for the police

In his response, the Governor lauded the efforts of the Police especially in the Zone in combating kidnapping and other heinous crimes adding that he was impressed by the leadership of AIG Oyebade.

After addressing PCRC members, officers and men of the Osun State Command who he admonished to embrace the concept of community policing, the DIG proceeded to the palace of Oluwo of Iwo who promised to continue to support the police in achieving the objectives of the community policing.

Meanwhile,the Oyo Police Command has assured residents of the state for the security of their lives and property during this Sallah festival as adequate measures have been put in place to achieve that aim.

CP Sina Olukolu who gave the assurance in a release by his PPRO SP Fadeyi warned criminal elements who may be plotting to threaten peace and stability to drop the idea or be ready for the repercussions.
